DESCRIPTION:The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford will honor the 4\,415 men lost on D-Day during Flames of Memory\, a three-day event from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1 through Dec. 3. \n\n\n\nThousands of luminaries arranged around the memorial's grounds will shine in recognition of Overlord's fallen and in tribute to the ultimate sacrifice each made to relight the lamp of freedom. Visitors are invited to park and walk through the illuminated memorial or drive around the circle to view from their vehicles.\n\n \n\nGuests on both Friday and Saturday evening can experience Christmas 1944 on the frontlines with Christmas in Wartime. The unique presentation features re-enactors and living history displays\, reminiscent of how soldiers celebrated the holidays while fighting in World War II. G.I. Santa makes his annual appearance on Dec. 2. \n\n\n \n\n\nAdmission is free. Donations are welcome.
