Join friends and family for the first of two days of programs honoring the history of Brookneal’s Black communities from 1794 to 1944. This event, in partnership with the Robert Russa Moton Museum, will take place at Red Hill on Saturday, April 6 from 10:00 am–4:00 pm. Programs include site tours of the estate and Quarter Place, a genealogy seminar by Red Hill’s Historian & Genealogist of African American History, a descendant-led discussion panel, and a presentation on traditional Black Appalachian music. Lunch will be served free of charge. For convenience, a free shuttle bus will depart from the Moton Museum to Red Hill at 9:00 am. Please indicate if you or your group would like to ride this bus when reserving your tickets.

This event, in partnership with Patrick Henry’s Red Hill, will take place at the Robert Russa Moton Museum on Saturday, April 13 from 10:00 am–4:00 pm. Programs include tours of the museum, a drama presentation by actress Gloria Simon, a descendant-led discussion panel, and more. Lunch will be served free of charge.
