Hands-on training using a live simulation to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and lower costs through practical process improvement tools.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance and support from GENEDGE’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), this workshop—normally priced at $275 per person—is being offered for $50 per seat.

This half-day, hands-on workshop introduces proven process improvement methods through an interactive manufacturing simulation. Participants will learn how to identify value-added versus non-value-added work, reduce waste, improve flow, and align production to customer demand. Through multiple simulation rounds, attendees apply tools such as process mapping, workplace organization, standard work, visual management, and pull systems to see how small changes can significantly improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.

What's In Store?

Participants will go through three quick simulation rounds to teach concepts. Operators will build K’nex “Widgets” to simulate a traditional manufacturing operation.
A Training overview will address standard lean tools and improvement methodologies, including lot size reduction, single piece flow and simulation results will demonstrate impacts to business in lead-times, profitability and productivity.
In the simulation’s third-round the team applies concepts of kaizen and process improvement to create their own process flow, which they can see the results of the changes and improvements over the three rounds.
