The veterans, motorcycle groups, and others in the area have come together with the City of Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Department and have caused to be planted 14 trees in honor of the 14 local heroes killed in action in the War on Terror. The site we have chosen is on the Blackwater Creek Trail extension along side of Linkhorne Middle School. On October 14 a memorial service will be observed at the site at 11:00 am. The keynote speaker will be Desmond T. Doss Jr., son of Lynchburg native and World War II Medal of Honor recipient Desmond T. Doss. Join us as we will not allow these great Americans to be forgotten.

Park in the Linkhorne Middle School parking lot and walk down to the site. For those that need it, we plan to have a golf cart available. That portion of the trail will be closed for the event. Bring a lawn chair if you wish to be able to sit.
If you would consider sponsoring a tree, send a check in the amount of $300 to the Lynchburg Area Veteran Council Inc., 301 Greenview Drive, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502. Your kindness will be recognized at the event.
