Community Action Organizations
Lynchburg Community Action Group, Inc., established in 1965, is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of services and programs to the citizens of Central Virginia. Lyn-CAG's primary focus has been to provide direct assistance to low and moderate income individuals and families in the prevention, reduction or elimination of poverty and adverse situations in their lives.
Our programs and services include Children and Family Services (Head Start, Daycare, family support), Employment
Services, Housing Counseling, First-Time Homebuyer program, Emergency Shelter for the Homeless, Virginia Cares
(Re-entry Program for ex-offenders), VITA (free income tax preparation), and Weatherization and Home Rehabilitation.
